Photomosaics

Photomosaic (foe-toe-moe-ZAY-ik) Composition is a modern art form (not "modern art", but more characteristic of the Digital Art genre), made possible by computing power that does what would take days to patch together manually. I love the effect when it is done well (click here for a Google search for photomosaics) I decided to experiment with photomosaic software using my own photos. You definitely have to have some patience to do these well!

First, a photomosaic of a little girl made up of photos I have taken over the past 11 years. This is a beautiful shot, and the photomosaic effect adds to the wistful expression on the girl's face. If you click on any of these images, you can see the high res version that will show you the photos it consists of.

Next, a photomosaic of a bride and groom, made up of all types of photos.

Next is something that I can provide as a wedding photographer to any client that requests it. It's a photomosaic of a bride and groom, made up entirely of photos from their own wedding. While this doesn't have the abstract photos of seashells and homework pages, etc that the other photos have, it is all unique to your own wedding. If you have photos that you want made into one of these, I can also put that together. You might recognize the couple here from a previous post on this blog!

Finally, my favorite photomosaic is of a very simple photo of a father and his baby, and bears an ambiguity that almost gives the feel of one of Claude Monet's abstract photos.

These photos MUST be printed out, and must be printed large enough (at LEAST 8x10, preferrably 16x20) to see the detail in the tiles. If you are interested, please contact me at nathan.a.lee@gmail.com and I can put this together in a very reasonable time, and for a reasonable cost.

It's been fun! Check back for future posts!
